ไทยนำเข้ารถบรรทุกสามล้อขนาดเล็กยี่ห้อ Daihatsu รุ่น Midget ที่หน้าตาคล้ายกบนี้ มาใช้ที่จังหวัดตรังครั้งแรกในยุคจอมพลสฤษดิ์ ธนะรัชต์ เดิมเป็นรถบรรทุกของ แต่ช่างชาวตรังปรับแต่งเพิ่มหลังคารถป้องกันแดดและฝนแล้วนำมาใช้เป็นรถสาธารณะที่ขนได้ทั้งคนและสินค้า เพราะรถทุ่นแรงนี้เหมาะสมกับภูมิประเทศที่เป็นเนินและลอนลูกฟูก แถมยังซอกแซกตามซอยคับแคบในเมืองได้สะดวก ปัจจุบันแม้รถหัวกบจะเลิกผลิตแล้วและมีอายุราวครึ่งศตวรรษแต่ก็ยังนิยมในจังหวัดตรัง เกิดชมรมอนุรักษ์ยังปรับแต่งเครื่องยนต์ให้ยังใช้ได้ และกลายเป็นสัญลักษณ์ประจำจังหวัดตรังไปแล้ว
